The C Scale
What, why and how..........
This is where string and blow instruments are hard to startup and piano is easy. String and Wind get easier with time and piano gets more difficult. The C Scale is all the White Keys on a Piano. Every String and Wind student would benefit from owning a cheap 1 or 2 octave digital organ to then easily see the linear scale. As string instruments are vertical and horizontal notes on the scale.
So then - The C Scale.
The C scale is all the Natural Notes. No flats - No Sharps.
C D EF G A BC
Notice that EF and BC are ALWAYS next to each other. a semitone, one fret( 2 frets to a the next whole note), however you want to call it. Also note: WWHWWWH ~ Whole Whole Half Whole Whole Whole Half~ The pattern to Create Any Scale.
C Scale on A String |
C Scale on B String |
F3 - F5 - F7- F8- F10- F12- F14 |
F1- F3- F5- F6- F8- F10- F12 |
Practice this. Know it perfectly and cleanly. Know it so without looking you can choose any note to play followed by a sequence like R35. R57.753. 246. This may take a month, 6 months, a year or 5 years. It is up to you and how often you practice.
This is the path to success to String instrument playing.
